So, my first journal entry, after two years of being a member here... Where to start?

I suppose I should cover what I like and dislike about myself and other people's art.

I am a writer. This guarantees one thing: I shall never be able to make a perfect piece of art. The simple fact is, words are never enough. Human language is an inherently lacking method of communication. The entirety of all written human works can not compare to the singular majesty of this singular moment. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make perfect art, and still think we can. But we can't.

I have no other talents. Thus why I've never taken up some sort of visual art (my stick figures are so depressing that they're suicidal), or musical instrument (I just don't have the dexterity). All I have is my words, and they can never be enough. But I'm afraid they'll have to be.



On to the next topic, I HATE DeviantArt. I loathe it and all its members. It is a cesspool of mediocrity and self-reinforcing bullshit. It is infested by stupid teenagers who post their crappy doodles and think they have any artistic merit whatsoever. These doodles are then commented upon by the eager massive of other doodlers, eager to talk about how awesome someone else is in exchange for that person talking them up a bit.

This kids, is artistic masturbation.

And don't get me started about the godawful "writing" that gets posted here. Thoth would have a coronary.

So, if I subscribe to you, or comment, or anything like that, it really does mean something. I truly do think you are an artist. There are a very few true artists in this place, and I aim to find them.
